FÚTBOL AT THE HARBOR

I only mostly enjoy watching soccer when the World Cup comes on (every four years) but even more so when one of my families countries is playing. I'm half Colombian and half Venezuelan, and since Colombia made it to the World Cup this year, I'll obviously be rooting for them. I thought it'd only be appropriate to watch their great game against Uruguay on the most gigantic screen we could find - that being the National Harbor.

We brought a small picnic and laid out our blanket as close to the screen as we could get before the whole lawn started to get packed with people. But of course, as soon as half time came around, that clear 90 degree weather day forced us to run over to a bar and hide out. At least it was a bar with a just as awesome view, and a smaller chance of frying up like an egg.

NEW YORK WEEKEND

It feels good to escape your usual weekend routine every once in a while, and luckily last weekend Andres and I got to do just that. We drove over to Brooklyn to visit a few of my best friends from middle school and enjoyed time together as much as we could.

I'd been to New York plenty of times, but oddly enough I can't say I'd ever had a picnic in Central Park - and I was SO looking forward to it. We got some snacks from Whole Foods and planted ourselves on the nearest shade we could find, played a few rounds of Taboo (girls won!), and simply enjoyed the views and the weather.

At night it was dinner and cotton candy over at the japanese restaurant Kenka, followed by too much dancing and singing at a nearby bar/club.

WATERMELON SLUSHIES

These refreshing slushies are so easy to make, it's not even funny. I used about a quarter of a medium watermelon and about equal parts ice. I'd say about 2 cups of each got thrown into our blender and out came this cool, icy watermelon slush. Just what I needed after a busy morning running errands. This is a great drink to make for all these weekend BBQ's this beautiful weather is calling for lately!

BIRTHDAY #25

I must start by saying I'm incredible grateful for all my family and friends who wished me a Happy Birthday this year. Secondly, I must say I'm incredibly thankful for everything my husband did for me this birthday weekend. He definitely outdid himself!

Since Andres and I were gone the weekend of my actual birthday, I had a small get together with some friends a few days before it. Just in case some of you don't know, I'm addicted to doughnuts and as you can see I couldn't help myself from building a small doughnut tower with a dozen of my favorite flavors. (I'm not the biggest "traditional cake" fan) I also LOVE seafood so Andres insisted he make his world famous ceviche!

Not only all that, but he had a whole weekend getaway planned for us too. He took us on a roadtrip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where we got to soak in some sun and beach waves, eat some boardwalk fries and funnel cake (again - not a traditional birthday cake kinda girl), and the absolute BEST part of the birthday, we got to PLAY with baby tigers!!! Andres had reserved us a tour at the T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station and we got a ton of personal interaction with these cuties - belly rubs and all! I highly recommend this place for you animal lovers out there. It was truly an unforgettable experience that will live with me forever. <3 

 

EASTER WEEKEND

One of my favorite Easter weekends yet! Friday started with a super entertaining photoshoot with my baby bun Eclipse and my niece, Emiliana, in the afternoon. Definitely didn't go as easily as I had thought it out in my head - regardless, I still had so much fun with those crazy girls. Saturday was an all girls winery day with my family, friends, and a cousin that came to visit from Venezuela. Finally, we finished the weekend off with a huge brunch at my parents house on Sunday.

Now, when is our next holiday...is it Memorial Day yet?
